Samuel David Cheris

Sam Cheris has been a trustee of the United States Fencing Foundation for the past eight years and currently serves as the foundation’s treasurer. Cheris also has held the roles of president, treasurer and vice president of USA Fencing as well as chair of the Referees’ Commission. 

On the international scene, he has been a member of the Executive Committee of the Federation International d’Escrime (FIE) and a member of its Promotion Commission. Cheris was selected as a Member of Honor of the FIE and is a member of the FIE Hall of Fame. He currently serves as the President of the FIE Legal Commission. Cheris refereed domestically for 28 years and internationally for 16 years, earning his A license in foil and B in epee.  

Cheris is an attorney and member of the Colorado Bar and serves as chair of the Investment Committee of the Colorado Bar Association. He represents Closely-Held entities with respect to formation, governance, operations and succession. He also is a special advisor to the Board of the Colorado Society of CPAs, Chair of the Board of International Hearing Dog, Vice President of the Littleton Town Hall Arts Center and president of the board of his HOA.

Cheris resides in Aurora Colorado with his wife Susie and they have two sons, two daughters and six grandchildren.  They both enjoy hiking, travel and reading.
