(Colorado Springs, Colo.) - Athletes who are scheduled to compete at the March NAC (March 20-23) or the USA Fencing Division I / Parafencing Nationals and April North American Cup (April 17-20) are advised that the withdrawal deadline for each of these events has been extended.

The updated withdrawal deadlines are as follows:

March NAC (Detroit, Mich.): March 17
Division I / Parafencing Nationals and April NAC (St. Louis, Mo.): April 14

Each of the above tournaments is set to take place on the originally scheduled dates and locations. USA Fencing is continuing to monitor the global situation regarding the Coronavirus (COVID-19) and is working with state and local public health officials as well as the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Committee in order to protect the health and well-being of all participants in these events.

If you are injured or ill and would like to request an extension of the withdrawal deadline based on individual circumstances, please contact C.Simmons@usafencing.org. 

All participants are encouraged to follow preventative actions regarding respiratory illnesses, including:  

• Stay home when you are sick.
• Avoid close contact with people who are sick.
• Avoid touching your eyes, nose, and mouth.
• Cover your cough or sneeze with a tissue, then throw the tissue in the trash.
• Wash your hands often with soap and water for at least 20 seconds, especially after going to the bathroom; before eating; and after blowing your nose, coughing, or sneezing.
• If soap and water are not readily available, use an alcohol-based hand sanitizer with at least 60% alcohol. Always wash hands with soap and water if hands are visibly dirty.
