USA Fencing

 

A dramatically foggy morning in Zadar set the scene for yet another legendary day of battles at the 2022 Veteran World Championship. 

No stranger to the podium veteran fencer Joshua Runyan valiantly fought italian foe Fiera Chios on his quest for gold. Coming up short, Runyan still brought in his bling, matching his wife Heidi walking away with a Bronze.

 

Mark Lundborg, fencer and CFO of Issaquah's Washington Fencing Academy (WFA) continued his gold medal streak after a nail biter final against Italy’s Fiera Chios. The energy in the stands and on the strip was contagiously palpable as Lundborg secured his reigning position inch by inch and touch by touch. A final for the record books no doubt!

 

Everyone likes a good team battle, am I right or am I right? The USA  vs Great Britain women’s team saber semi-final was a true clash of the titans. A stacked USA veteran roster fought touch by touch, and the stands went crazy (really.) Though coming up inches short on their journey to gold, the Women’s Saber Team kept our heart rates up and our voices entirely lost from cheering. The ladies secured their third place podium spot, bringing the USA medal count to a total of 8 at the end of Day 2.

 

Shining like the very medals they won today... Our Team USA Veterans beamed and gleamed on and off the strip.
