Meet the epee fencer with an appetite for opportunity.

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — This week, our Friday Featured Fencer is Ayan Nallamshetty, an ambitious 15-year-old epee fencer hailing from Tampa, Fla. Ayan trains at Tampa Fencing Academy under the guidance of coaches Enrique Claro and Boyko Krastevitch, where he has been developing his skills and making a name for himself in the fencing community.

Ayan's passion for fencing is evident in his explanation of why he loves the sport.

"Fencing is a gateway for opportunity," he says. "Even if you have just started, there is something that you can take away and apply to various aspects of your life."

This viewpoint underscores the transformative power of fencing, as it not only develops physical skills but also fosters personal growth.

Ayan's proudest fencing moment to date has been placing at the official Florida State Championships and earning his first rating. This accomplishment demonstrates his hard work, determination and commitment to the sport.

For his fellow fencers, Ayan offers insightful advice.

"Fencing is a physical and mind game," he says. "You must simultaneously think of your next attack and be ready to counterattack if the opponent attacks first."

This wisdom highlights the importance of strategic thinking and adaptability in fencing.

As Ayan continues to train and compete, his passion for the sport and his drive to seize opportunities will undoubtedly propel him to new heights. We look forward to following his journey and witnessing the impact he makes in the world of fencing!
