To remain compliant with SafeSport rules requiring training every 365 days, we are adjusting our training cycle expirations to be 365 days after the training was last taken

COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — There’s been an important update to the SafeSport training cycle that will affect active USA Fencing members who are required to take annual SafeSport Training per the U.S. Center for SafeSport Code.

To remain compliant with SafeSport rules requiring training every 365 days, we are adjusting our training cycle expirations to be 365 days after the training was last taken. For members who took the training in early July of last year, please note that your training could expire before or during Summer Nationals.

The current SafeSport Training cycle has been designed to coincide with membership renewals. That means that previously, all members had a fixed expiration date of July 31, with the opportunity to retake the training opening up on July 1.

This setup, while convenient for members, meant that a member could potentially go up to 13 months between trainings (for example, if they took it on July 3, 2022, and didn't take it again until July 31, 2023).

We’re strongly encouraging all USA Fencing active members to log in to their accounts to check their new expiration dates. As of May 1, 2023, you’ll find this on your member profile at member.usafencing.org.

As a courtesy, you’ll receive reminder emails 30 days, 15 days, and one day before your new SafeSport Training expiration date.

If you have any questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out to Christina Pachuta. Your understanding and adherence to these updated guidelines are crucial in maintaining a safe and secure environment within the USA Fencing community. Thank you for your cooperation and ongoing commitment to SafeSport.
