ORLANDO, Fl. -  On day three of the 2023 October NAC, there were new best results created and those who maintained their national rankings. Everyone was all smiles as the day went on and six more medals were awarded to fencers.

 

Shelby Jensen PLY (Valkyrie Fencing Club) took home gold in the Parafencing Women’s Saber category. Not only did she win gold today but kicking off the season this strong meant she maintained her national ranking. She said “I really worked hard to get this again. I am currently number one in the nation, so holding my title feels good.” Jensen is now looking forward to the parafencing World Cup coming up in December in Thailand.

 

While Jensen maintained her national ranking status, Yikun Liu (Yang Fencing Club) fenced his way to his best result, earning gold in the Division II Men’s Epee category. He said “I am feeling happy, this is the best result I have gotten!” Over the summer Liu worked on some technical skills that he said “helped me win in my final bout.”  When he realized he won, he looked out to the crowd and said “I was really happy to see that there were actually people looking at my bout.”

Robert Wang (Tim Morehouse Fencing Club / Tim Morehouse Fencing Club(Port Chester)) took home gold in the Cadet Men’s Saber category. He was thrilled to win as he said “it feels great, I think it’s a really big boost to my confidence,” about opening the new season with a win. He is looking forward to the next event of the season as he travels to the November NAC looking to earn another gold.
