(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing proudly welcomed its new CEO, Val Belmonte, to the National Office on Tuesday when Belmonte began his first week in his new role.

Belmonte was joined by USA Fencing President Don Anthony Jr. and Treasurer Sam Cheris who welcomed the new CEO to the office.

“It was a great honor to join with the staff and Sam Cheris to welcome our new CEO on his first day,” Anthony said. “Val, Sam and I had a chance to meet with the leadership of every department in the office and the members of their teams. The meetings went extremely well and were very informative. At the end of the day we all felt that USA Fencing is off to a great start and we are very lucky to have Val as our new CEO.”

A former resident of Colorado Springs who has served as a sports executive with both USA Hockey and USA Figure Skating, Belmonte has spent the first few days of his return to Colorado Springs meeting with the National Office staff and honing his vision for the new quadrennium.

“My first few days have gone very well and I’m thankful for the leadership and support Don and Sam have provided both this week as well as during the time leading up to my arrival in Colorado Springs. I’ve enjoyed getting to know my team in the National Office and am looking forward to meeting with USA Fencing’s board, sponsors and key constituents within the fencing and Olympic communities during the upcoming weeks,” Belmonte said. “Everyone has been so welcoming and I can’t wait to meet more members of the USA Fencing family as I begin this new journey.”
