Pan American Junior, Cadet, Y14, and Y12 Championships

Attention Fencers:

US Fencing would like to offer you the opportunity to fence at the 2010 Junior and Cadet Pan Am Championships and the first ever Y14 and Y12 Championships. This event is being held in Puerto, Vallarta, Jalisco Mexico from April 29 to May 6, 2010. US Fencing will register 4 fencers in each individual event for the Junior and Cadet competition. There is no limit to the number of fencers in the Y14 and Y12 Championships, but you must meet the minimum age requirement. To view the details on this competition please click here.

Cost: Fencers will be will responsible for ALL of the costs associated with participating this competition. This includes airfare, hotel, meals, and entry fee. There will also be a fee (payable to US Fencing) to cover the cost associated with sending the required 2 International Referees. This fee will be based upon the total number of fencers attending the event.

Eligibility: Only the fencers that meet the age requirement listed below, current USFA member, United States Citizen, and U.S. Passport holder may request to be considered to fence these competitions.

How to Register: Fencers interested must register via the USFA online system. To register you must be a current USFA member. You must register no later than Friday, April 16, 2010 at 12:00p.m. MST. Fencers cannot register by fax or email. Fencers must provide a copy of their U.S. Passport by emailing a copy to Jeanna Mendoza at international@usfencing.org or faxing it to 719-325-8995. Registration for this event will only be accepted through the online system.

Selection for Cadet and Juniors Championship:  Fencers will be selected according to the Junior and Cadet Team Points for the respective weapon they are applying to compete in. The top 4 fencers in each weapon will be selected.

Selection for Y14 and Y12 Championships: Those fencers that meet the age requirement and are current USFA members, U.S. Citizen, and U.S. Passport holders will be selected to compete in this competition.

Points: Per the athlete handbook, fencers will NOT be eligible to earn USFA points in any category (Junior, Cadet, Y14, or Y12).

Age Requirement: Juniors must be between 18 and 20 years old (born in the years 1990. 1991, or 1992). Cadets must be between 15 and 17 years old (born in the years 1993, 1994 or 1995). CORRECTION - Y14 fencers must be between 13 and 14 (born in the years of 1996 and 1997). Y12 fencers must be between 11 and 12 (born in the years 1998 and 1999).
