Colorado Springs, CO- The United States Fencing Association has announced the 2009-2010 Super Youth Circuit (SYC) schedule.
The circuit will consist of seven tournaments spanning the North Atlantic, Mid Atlantic, Great Lakes, and Pacific Coast Sections.
Bids were awarded to Cobra Fencing Club, the Golden Gate Fencing Foundation, Mission Fencing Center, the National Fencing Foundation of Washington D.C., Prise de Fer Fencing Club, Rochester Fencing Club, and the USFA Kentucky Division.
The Selection Committee comprised of USFA Vice President, Roberto Sobalvarro, who oversees Youth Programs, Associate Executive Director, Director of Operations and National Events, Christine Strong Simmons, and Youth Development Manager, Courtney Winninger.
SYC events allow athletes a chance to earn national points. Fencers may participate in more than one SYC tournament, however, only the competition where the fencer earns the most points will be included in the point standings. These events are part of the qualification paths for both Summer Nationals and Youth 10 and 12 events at North American Cups.
Tournament venues, hotels, and schedules will be posted soon.
