Updates to Qualification Paths for 2015 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge

The USA Fencing Tournament Committee, in conjunction with the National Events Department, has made several key revisions to the qualification paths for the 2015 USA Fencing National Championships and July Challenge which will be held from June 27 – July 6 in San Jose, Calif.

The revised qualification paths allow for an expanded field of competitors for the July Challenge. Please note that some qualification paths will be applicable to the 2015 event only. In 2016, the previously announced paths will be put into place and athletes will have an additional opportunity to qualify through the Regional Junior Cadet Circuit.

For athletes seeking to qualify for the Division II Nationals through the Regional Open Circuit point standings, the point total for qualification has been changed from 1,000 to 685.

July Challenge Junior Qualification:

  • On Junior National Points Standings OR
  • 75% of Cadet List (up from 50%) OR
  • 25% of Y14 OR
  • Top 80% of Junior JOs results and age eligible (New, 2015 Only) OR
  • Foreign Athletes with A/B

July Challenge Cadet Qualification:

  • On Cadet National Points Standings OR
  • 50% of Y14 National Points Standings OR
  • Top 80% of Cadet JOs results and age eligible (New, 2015 Only)
  • Top 80% of Junior JOs results and age eligible (New, 2015 Only)
  • Foreign Athletes with A/B/C

Division II Nationals Qualification:

  • Top 25% at Division Qualifier
  • Qualified for Div IA, if classification eligible
  • Finish in top 10% (min. four) of a Div II ROC
  • Be on the Division II Regional Open Circuit Point Standings with at least 685 points (changed from 1,000)
