(Richmond, Va.) – More than 1,200 athletes will compete for gold this weekend at the USA Fencing Division I and Wheelchair National Championships and April North American Cup at the Greater Richmond Convention Center.
Competition will be held in Halls A-D at the Greater Richmond Convention Center. All events are free and open to the public.
The Division I National Championships is scheduled to include four members of the team that have mathematically secured their positions to compete at the Rio Olympic Games this summer:
With the final opportunity for Paralympic qualification just over a month away, the Wheelchair National Championships will serve as tuneup event for the Zonal Qualifier in Rio de Janeiro with the following athletes among those scheduled to compete:
In addition to the National Championship events, the tournament also will feature the April North American Cup with athletes competing in 36 veteran age and weapon groups (athletes 40 and older) as well as the Division III competition for all three weapons.
