Staff Spotlight: Bryan Wendell

Title: Director of Communications

Hometown: Lewisburg, Pa.

Pronouns: he/him/his

About me: I began my career at the Boy Scouts of America, where I developed fresh approaches to telling the story of the century-old organization and its members. While there, I wrote dozens of feature-length articles for three BSA magazines, hosted a podcast and live videos, and launched the Bryan on Scouting blog, a daily news source that quickly grew in readership to more than 300,000 visitors a month.

After more than 10 years at the Boy Scouts of America, I moved to Bucknell University in central Pennsylvania to serve as the associate director of editorial strategy. While there, I created multichannel stories that introduced Bucknell to new audiences, leading to record-setting application numbers in 2021 and 2022.

Favorite thing about working for USA Fencing: Every fencer, fencing coach, fencing parent and official has an interesting story to tell. I want to find them and share them with the world! My communications strategy is focused on transparency, two-way communication and storytelling that strengthens the USA Fencing community.
