COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Fencing and World Fencing League (WFL) are announcing a strategic partnership designed to grow the sport of fencing in the United States and around the world by connecting elite competition with increased access and participation at the grassroots level.

The collaboration comes at a moment of strong momentum for the sport. Following the Paris 2024 Olympic and Paralympic Games, USA Fencing has become one of the fastest-growing National Governing Bodies in the United States, while the World Fencing League is preparing to launch a new professional league in Los Angeles this April aimed at bringing fencing to broader, more mainstream audiences.

Founded by Olympic medalist Miles Chamley-Watson OLY, the World Fencing League is designed to modernize how the sport is presented through high-level competition, athlete-driven storytelling, and world-class technology. The league has already secured top international and U.S. athletes, including Olympic champion Lee Kiefer OLY ahead of its inaugural event.

Under the strategic partnership, USA Fencing and the World Fencing League will collaborate on coordinated communications and promotional initiatives that highlight elite competition while promoting pathways to participation. USA Fencing will support the World Fencing League’s launch through promotion across its national channels and by facilitating connections within the U.S. fencing community. In turn, the World Fencing League will support broader awareness of USA Fencing’s participation and development efforts, helping connect new audiences to opportunities within the sport.

The partnership will also focus on athlete storytelling and community engagement efforts that help convert new fans into participants, coaches, and lifelong members of the fencing ecosystem.

"We see the World Fencing League as an exciting opportunity to bring more visibility to fencing and create new pathways for fans and athletes alike," says Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Fencing. "Our goal is clear: more opportunities for fencers, more eyeballs for the sport and innovation that benefits everyone. As a league founded by a visionary U.S. athlete like Miles Chamley-Watson OLY, getting involved was a natural choice. We're committed to doing what we can to see this initiative succeed, and we believe its success will be good for fencing at every level."

“The future of fencing depends on how well we serve the next generation of fans,” says Chamley-Watson, founder of the World Fencing League. “Our goal is to make elite fencing easier to understand, more compelling to watch, and more connected to real opportunities to get involved. Partnering with USA Fencing ensures that as the professional side grows, the grassroots side grows with it  and that’s how you build something that lasts.”

Both organizations have committed to ongoing dialogue to explore additional opportunities that raise fencing’s visibility, strengthen participation pathways, and drive sustainable growth for the sport worldwide.

The World Fencing League (WFL) is incubated by Chiron Sports Group, a global family office-backed investment group dedicated to transforming sports for the future through value creation in operational excellence, community building and technology enhancement.
