(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce the national patch winners for the 2019-20 season.

This season, 85 youth, cadet and junior fencers are being recognized for their performance at USA Fencing national tournaments, which include North American Cups as well as tournaments on the Super Junior and Cadet Circuit and the Super Youth Circuit.

The top three fencers on the USA Fencing National Rolling Point Standings for the youth (Y10, Y12 and Y14), cadet and junior categories at the end of the 2019-20 season will each be sent a recognition patch for their achievement.

Standings for the program are calculated as of July 31 for the youth categories. For cadet and junior, standings are calculated immediately following the Junior Olympic Championships for the respective season.

Five fencers earned two patches. 2019 Junior and Cadet World Champion Lauren Scruggs (Ozone Park, N.Y.) and 2020 Junior and Cadet World Team member Hadley Husisian (Oakton, Va.) each won gold in junior and cadet women’s foil and women’s épée, respectively. Husisian’s teammate, Michaela Joyce (Sterling, Va.), earned silver in cadet and bronze in junior women’s épée while 2020 Cadet World Team member Magda Skarbonkiewicz (Portland, Ore.) secured gold in Y14 and bronze in cadet women’s saber. In the youth categories, 12-year-old Jeidus DeSeranno (Grosse Pointe Shores, Mich.) won gold in Y12 men’s foil and silver in Y14.

More than 50 clubs from 28 divisions were represented with Manhattan Fencing Center and Marx Fencing Academy leading the way with five patch winners each.

Patches will be mailed in September. The full list of winners can be found below.
