Two More 2026–27 Season Dates Announced: November NAC in Columbus, Junior Olympics in OKC
by Bryan Wendell
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — USA Fencing has announced two more dates for the 2026–27 competitive season, giving members additional time to plan their travel and training schedules.
The newly confirmed events are:
- November 2026 North American Cup: Nov. 20–23, 2026, in Columbus, Ohio
- January 2027 North American Cup and Junior Olympics: Jan. 8–11, 2027, in Oklahoma City
These join the previously announced October 2026 North American Cup, set for Oct. 9–12, 2026, in Orlando, Fla. That event, announced in October, will mark USA Fencing's return to Orlando for the first time since 2023.
Event schedules and registration details will be announced closer to each tournament date. Members can check the USA Fencing National Events page for the latest information.
Why January for Junior Olympics
When USA Fencing moved the Junior Olympics from its traditional February date to January beginning with the 2025–26 season, the organization committed to hosting the event in January through 2028. That commitment was made in collaboration with the Sport Performance department to address international schedule challenges.
The January date allows Junior and Cadet fencers to compete at Junior Olympics without conflicts from the international calendar, which typically heats up in February and March.
How We Announce Tournament Locations
USA Fencing's Events team works to finalize dates and locations as early as possible, a change made after members asked for more advance notice to plan their competitive calendars.
Finalizing a location requires negotiations with city leaders, convention centers and hotels to ensure adequate competition space and hotel room capacity at affordable rates. Multiyear contracts, like the agreement with Kansas City (January 2025 and January 2026), often allow USA Fencing to secure better deals — savings the nonprofit reinvests back into the sport.
