Candidates Finalized for At-Large Director Election

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Eight candidates will be running for two At-Large Director positions on the USA Fencing Board of Directors during this year’s election which will be held electronically from May 5-21, 2021

2021 USA Fencing At-Large Director Candidate Statements

In addition to the six candidates announced by the Nominating Committee in January, the Election Committee has approved petitions submitted by Patrick Durkan (Wood Ridge, N.J.) and Abdel Salem (Colorado Springs, Colo.)

The following is the complete list of candidates for the two At-Large Director positions. The two elected directors each will serve a two-year term beginning on Sept. 1, 2021:

  • Donald Alperstein (Denver, Colo.), Nominated
  • Patrick Durkan (Wood Ridge, N.J.), Petitioned
  • Jeff Kim (Johns Creek, Ga.), Nominated
  • Vickie Miller (Durham, N.C.), Nominated
  • Ann Marsh-Senic (Royal Oak, Mich.), Nominated
  • Abdel Salem (Colorado Springs, Colo.), Petitioned
  • Scott Webb (Grand Rapids, Mich.), Nominated
  • Dawn Wilson (Louisville, Ky.), Nominated

Please Note: Following an update to the USA Fencing Bylaws in August of 2020, the Board of Directors Election will be conducted utilizing preferential voting in which voters may rank order the candidates when voting with the top two candidates being elected as At-Large Directors. Voters may choose to rank as few or as many candidates as they wish.

All individuals who held a supporting membership or higher as of Feb. 1 2021 and are 18 years or older as of that date are eligible to vote in the election.
