(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – All four members of the 2011 U.S. Men’s Saber Senior World Team will compete in the table of 64 at the Padua Saber World Cup in Italy on Saturday.

Beijing Olympic silver medalists Tim Morehouse (New York City, N.Y.) and James Williams (New York City, N.Y.) and their 2011 World teammate Ben Igoe (Staten Island, N.Y.) advanced through the preliminary rounds on Friday to join Daryl Homer (New York City, N.Y.) whose #16 world ranking made him exempt from the first day of competition.

Morehouse and Igoe each went undefeated in the pools to post 6-0 results and finish sixth and eighth, respectively, after the pool rounds. Their successful starts to the day meant that both athletes advanced directly into the table of 64 and did not have to compete in the preliminary tables.

Williams won four bouts in the pools and finished the session, 4-1, after one of his opponents withdrew from the event.

After a bye out of the preliminary table of 128, Williams defeated 2011 Pan Am silver medalist Vincent Couturier (CAN), 15-11, to advance to the table of 64 where he will fence Morehouse in the opening round on Saturday in the Olympic qualifying event.

Live results will be posted throughout the weekend at
