USA Fencing Welcomes Spike Lab as New Sponsor to Empower Young Innovators
by Bryan Wendell
USA Fencing announces a sponsorship with Spike Lab, giving members access to one-on-one entrepreneurial coaching and real-world project opportunities that complement their fencing journey.
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — Fencers thrive when they turn quick thinking into decisive action.
Now that same competitive mindset can fuel groundbreaking ideas beyond the strip. USA Fencing is proud to announce Spike Lab as our newest official sponsor. Spike Lab is a teen startup incubator that helps high school students launch real-world ventures through personalized coaching.
The collaboration offers USA Fencing families an innovative resource for developing leadership, creativity and entrepreneurial grit alongside their athletic pursuits.
“USA Fencing is always looking for ways to support our athletes off the strip as well as on it,” says USA Fencing CEO Phil Andrews. “Partnering with Spike Lab gives our members a tremendous advantage. They’ll gain access to world-class mentorship and the chance to build passion projects that matter.”
Here’s how it works: Students meet weekly online with experienced entrepreneurs or changemakers who guide them from idea to launch — all designed around fencer-friendly, flexible scheduling that fits around training, competitions and travel.
Instead of coursework or test prep, teens create a long-term initiative — could be a business, nonprofit, research study or creative venture — that delivers tangible impact and showcases their individuality.
By solving these authentic problems, participants develop resilience, leadership and communication skills that shine in essays, interviews and résumés.
But it doesn’t end there. Fencers join a network of like-minded peers, sharing feedback, collaborating across borders and celebrating milestones together.
Through this partnership, USA Fencing members gain favorable access to Spike Lab programs, plus exclusive webinars and seminars tailored to the fencing community. Good luck, and let’s get going!
