USA Fencing Announces Regional Coach and Athlete Seminars

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce that a series of four regional coach and athlete seminars will be held this spring. 

The seminars will be led by Michael Marx (Boston, Mass.), USA Fencing Coaching Development Coordinator, as well as a staff of elite coaches and athletes and will include instruction for epee, foil and saber.

“These seminars will allow participants to learn from top coaches and developing programs like this will ensure that we will continue an upward trend on the international stage by developing future World Class coaches and athletes,” said Marx who has developed the seminar series in conjunction with U.S. Fencing Coaches Association President Abdel Salem (U.S. Air Force Academy, Colo.)

Held in four locations throughout the country, the dates for the seminars are as follows: 

  • April 27 – 29: Florida Institute of Technology, Melbourne Fla.
  • May 11 – 13: Northwest Fencing Center, Beaverton Ore.
  • May 18 – 20: Boston Fencing Club, Waltham Mass.
  • June 1-3: Northwestern University, Evanston Ill.

“As our new coaching development coordinator, Michael is committed at this stage in his remarkable career to helping improve coach development and to building alliances that will make our systems strong and effective,” said USA Fencing Executive Director Greg Dilworth (Colorado Springs, Colo.)

Cost
The cost for each seminar is $200. If a coach brings five students, he/she receives a 50% discount on the coach’s tuition.
 
Age
Athlete sessions are open to athletes ages 12 and older.
