(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Taking into account the late notice of an announcement posted on Jan. 24, USA Fencing has decided not to change the selection procedures for the 2012 Junior and Cadet Women’s Saber World Championship Team.
We apologize for any confusion the previous announcement may have created. As released last year, the Junior and Cadet World Teams will be selected on Feb. 20. This selection will follow the conclusion of the Junior Olympic Fencing Championships that will be held in Salt Lake City from Feb. 17-20 as well as the Junior World Cup that will take place in Budapest, Hungary on Feb. 19.
In order to encourage the participation of junior athletes in Senior World Cups, the entry deadline for the senior women’s saber World Cup in London (Feb. 24-26) will still be pushed back to midnight PST on Jan. 30.
We listened carefully to feedback following the announcement on Tuesday and are examining our procedures for making revisions to selection criteria in the future.
