New York Saber World Cup Webcast Moved UP to 7 p.m. EDT TODAY

(New York City, N.Y.) – Fencing fans from around the world can watch the medal bouts of the New York Saber World Cup live TONIGHT on both www.usfencing.org and www.universalsports.com at 7 p.m. EDT.

In conjunction with the U.S. Olympic Committee and Echo Entertainment, both the women’s and men’s semifinal and final bouts will be aired via Webcast from the New York Athletic Club in New York City.

Women’s competition will include the following semifinals:

  • Mariel Zagunis (Beaverton, Ore.), two-time Olympic Champion, vs. Bogna Jozwiak (POL), 2007 Senior World bronze medalist
  • Olga Kharlan (UKR), two-time individual Senior World silver medalist, vs. Sophia Velikaia (RUS), 2010 Senior World bronze medalist

More than 350 athletes are vying for Olympic qualifying points this weekend at one of the world’s most prestigious fencing events.

The men’s competition is still currently running. Top athletes who may compete in the medal bouts include:

  • Man Zhong (CHN), 2008 Olympic Champion
  • Nicolas Lopez (FRA), 2008 Olympic silver medalist
  • Zsolt Nemcsik (HUN), 2004 Olympic silver medalist and 2006 World silver medalist
  • Woo-Young Won (KOR), 2010 World Champion and 2006 World medalist
  • Nicolas Limbach (GER), 2009 World Champion and three-time World medalist
  • Tim Morehouse (New York City, N.Y.), 2008 Olympic silver medalist
  • Daryl Homer (New York City, N.Y.), two-time Senior World Team member
  • Ben Igoe (Staten Island, N.Y.), two-time Senior World Team member
  • Jeff Spear (Wyantskill, N.Y.)
  • Mihail Etropolski (Floral Park, N.Y.)
