NYU Langone Named Official Hospital for USA Fencing

Elite Competitors to Have Access to Medical Center’s Sports Medicine, Musculoskeletal Expertise and Research

(New York, N.Y.) – USA Fencing, the National Governing Body for the sport of fencing in the United States, is pleased to announce that the NYU Langone Medical Center’s Hospital for Joint Disease is an official sponsor and medical consultant for the organization, through November 1, 2016.


USA Fencing’s elite athletes will have access to NYU Langone’s orthopaedic experts, including sports medicine and conditioning specialists for medical consultation, treatment and access to a network of providers for USA Fencing athletes around the country and during select domestic and international competitions.

“We look forward to supporting the athletes, coaches and staff of USA Fencing with our knowledge and experience in musculoskeletal and elite sports performance care,” said Dennis A. Cardone, DO , associate professor, Department of Orthopaedic Surgery and sports medicine expert at NYU Langone Medical Center. “The volume of research and therapeutic science about performance and injury prevention is expansive and our years of caring for varied conditions of the joint and muscle will ensure these players stay at the top of their game.”

The NYU Langone dedicated sports medicine program incorporates clinical, educational and investigational aspects of athletic injuries to treat athletes playing at the high school, college and professional levels, as well as recreational athletes from every age group. One of the most recognized centers for musculoskeletal care, NYU Langone sports medicine experts perform more than 3,000 procedures each year, including arthroscopic procedures on the knee, shoulder, elbow and ankle as well as the latest in meniscal and cartilage reconstruction, rehabilitation and injection therapies.

“USA Fencing continues to expand and develop athletes at all levels, and we are pleased to have such established experts in sports science, medicine and injury prevention and care from NYU Langone at our side,” said USA Fencing CEO Val Belmonte. “Their specialized knowledge and skill will be beneficial to our fencers as they compete at local, national and world venues.”
