(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The U.S. Women’s Saber Team won bronze on Sunday at the Antalya World Cup in Turkey – the third straight bronze medal finish for the two-time reigning World Team bronze medalists.

The American squad entered the team event following a successful day in the individual competition in which two-time Olympic Champion Mariel Zagunis (Beaverton, Ore.) won silver and her teammates, Dagmara Wozniak (Avenel, N.J.) and Ibtihaj Muhammad (Maplewood, N.J.) placed fifth and seventh, respectively. The trio was joined by senior Eliza Stone (Chicago, Ill.) who was making her debut in the team event in the middle of a season that has seen the Princeton senior shoot up to #4 in the U.S. national team rankings.

The Americans opened with a 45-22 victory over Mexico in the table of 16 and defeated Poland, 45-31, in the quarter-finals.

In the semifinals, Team USA fell to Ukraine – the 2009 Senior World Champions – by a score of 45-40.

The Americans rebounded in their final bout to defeat Hungary, 45-32, and win bronze.
