(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce that Samantha Nemecek-Belding (Denver, Colo.) has been hired as the organization’s new sports performance manager.

A former National Foil Team member, Nemecek-Belding represented Team USA at the 2006 Senior World Championships as well as the 2003, 2004 and 2005 Junior and Cadet Worlds.

Nemecek-Belding will work in conjunction with the squad managers to coordinate national team logistics at the senior, junior and cadet level. She also will liaise with USA Fencing coaches and referees and assist with the implementation of new educational programs as well as working. In addition, Nemecek-Belding will help develop new competition and training opportunities for athletes in the wheelchair fencing program.

“We are thrilled to welcome Sam to the team.  Her career as an elite fencer will enhance the sports performance department and we look forward to her contributing to the success of our athletes, coaches and referees on the world stage,” said Sports Performance Director Kate Reisinger (Colorado Springs, Colo.)

Nemecek-Belding previously worked as a fencing coach and events coordinator for Denver Fencing Center and West Michigan Fencing Academy. “I’ve fenced for almost my entire life and am looking forward to contributing to a sport that has given me so much,” Nemecek-Belding said. “I’m excited to work with our athletes and coaches and am hoping to be able to help prepare them for international success and also to help expand our sports performance programs in all areas.”

A Michigan native, Nemecek-Belding moved to Colorado to attend the University of Denver 2012 and married former foil fencer Alex Belding (Denver, Colo.) in October.
