Nominated by President Obama, Sunil Sabharwal Sworn in as United States Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Sunil Sabharwal (Chevy Chase, Md.), a former member of the Federation Internationale d’Escrime Executive Committee and treasurer for USA Fencing, was sworn in today as the United States Alternate Executive Director of the International Monetary Fund.

Sabharwal, who was nominated by President Barack Obama for the position, will serve a two-year term. He was sworn in by the United States Secretary of the Treasury Jacob Lew during a ceremony at the Department of the Treasury.

A graduate of Ohio State, Sabharwal was a former NCAA All-American and Big Ten Champion in fencing who has continued to provide significant contributions to the sport, both domestically and on the international scene where he currently serves on the International Olympic Committee’s International Fair Play Committee.
