Carl Borack Named Chef de Mission for the U.S. Olympic Fencing Team

U.S. Olympic Fencing Team Chef de Mission Carl Borack.

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce that 1972 Olympian Carl Borack (Santa Monica, Calif.) will serve as the chef de mission for the U.S. Olympic Fencing Team in Rio de Janeiro.

Borack, who represented Team USA in men’s individual and team foil at the Munich Games, was a member of the fencing delegation for the 1988,1992, 1996 and 2000 Olympic Games as the team captain and has attended every Olympic Games except for 1980 since the Munich Games in 1972. Most recently, Borack was honored by USA Fencing as an inductee in the Hall of Fame in 2012.

As the chef de mission, Borack will serve as the head of the fencing delegation in Rio and will liaise with other nations and the FIE and attend protocol functions on behalf of the team.

Borack will join the U.S. team support staff that includes team captain Ann Marsh (Royal Oak, Mich.), team leader Kate Reisinger (Colorado Springs, Colo.), director of sports medicine Jeremy Summers (Huntington Beach, Calif.) and armorer Matthew Porter (Pacifica, Calif.)
