(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Among the millions of individuals who have been affected by the devastation of Hurricane Harvey have been the members of USA Fencing clubs housed within the Houston metropolitan area and the Gulf Coast Division.
Many members of the USA Fencing community have inquired about the well-being of their fellow fencers in the Houston and South Texas areas and we will be providing updates on these clubs during the coming days and weeks.
Our National Office staff has reached out to their owners and staff regarding the impact that this catastrophe has had on their facilities and membership.
Some of these individuals have not been able to visit their clubs in person due to the flooding, so it is hard to assess the damage that has been caused to these facilities.
While the immediate focus is on day-to-day needs, USA Fencing has established a fund to assist these clubs with rebuilding and repair efforts in the coming months. USA Fencing will be contributing support to help the clubs and fencers in the Gulf Coast Division recover what was lost in the hurricane. All tax-deductible gifts made to the USA Fencing Hurricane Harvey Relief Fund will be used to assist those in our fencing community in the Gulf Coast Division affected by the hurricane.
