Personal
Starks-Faulkner's twin brother began fencing when they were in high school, but told his sister that "girls don't fence." When she attended Brooklyn College, she took a fencing class with two-time Olympian Denise O'Connor. Starks-Faulkner challenged her brother to a bout, beat him and continued to fence, going on to earn All-American honors at Brooklyn College where she fenced with Ann-Marie Walters who would go on to become her teammate on multiple Veteran World squads. Results
