2022 Referees' Commission Election

2024 Election Update: In 2024, the RC elections will be held for Chair, Ombuds, and Vice-Chair for Domestic Development. Further details will be posted on our 2024 RC Election Page as soon as possible.

USA Fencing referees who have worked at least one regional or national level event in the 2020-21 or 2021-22 season are invited to vote in the 2022 Referees' Commission Election.

Voting is conducted through our partners at eBallot, and each eligible voter will receive a unique voting link. 

Who is eligible to vote

To be eligible to vote in the Referees’ Commission election, you must meet both of the following criteria:

  • Be 18 years or older and a USA Fencing member with voting rights* and in good standing as of Feb. 1, 2022
  • Have worked at least one regional or national level event in the 2020/21 or 2021/22 season

*Includes Life, Competitive, Collegiate Competitive, Supporting, Access, Olympian Life, Paralympian Life, Life Installment, Coach

Key voting dates and deadlines

May 17*: Voting opens at 12:01 a.m. EDT
June 9: Voting closes at 4 p.m. EDT
June 10: Winners announced

Why it’s important

Our Referees' Commission aims to facilitate the best possible athlete experience in American fencing competitions by developing and managing a group of competent and unbiased referees and creating an environment of fairness, honesty, integrity and respect.

Each eligible voter will receive a unique voting link by email. 

About ranked voting

The RC election will use Ranked Preferential Voting, as per Section 9.10 of the USA Fencing bylaws.

*The announced start date of May 16 was moved back by a day because of a scheduling issue.
