COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — In a move that underscores its commitment to delivering a timeless and adaptable education model for everyone — including fencers like 2024 Olympian and incoming Notre Dame student-athlete Magda Skarbonkiewicz — Avenues Online, the official school of USA Fencing, will now be known as AEON School.
The new name reflects both its evolution as an independent entity and its dedication to meeting the unique needs of its students, particularly those who are USA Fencing athletes.
Maggie Wollner, Head of School at AEON School, shared that the decision to transition from Avenues Online to AEON School was deeply rooted in the school's mission to better serve its diverse student body.
“Our new name, AEON, embodies our dedication to provide a timeless and adaptable education that supports students in their pursuit of greatness,” she says. “This name change is not just a rebranding — it’s a reaffirmation of our dedication to provide a world-class, adaptable education that prepares our students for success at the most selective colleges and universities, as well as in the competitive world of fencing.”
AEON School continues to offer an advanced, flexible learning environment, freeing students from the constraints of traditional education systems. This flexibility is especially vital for USA Fencing athletes, who require a schedule that can accommodate rigorous training and competition demands without compromising their academic aspirations.
Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Fencing, says he’s excited about the name change and the continued partnership with AEON School, which will continue to set up a table at USA Fencing national tournament for families and fencers who want to learn more about the school.
“AEON School has been an invaluable partner for USA Fencing, offering our athletes the flexibility they need to succeed both on the piste and in the classroom,” Andrews says. “We are thrilled to see the school evolve and grow, and we look forward to many more years of collaboration in supporting the next generation of fencing champions.”
The name AEON, inspired by the Greek word for “forever”’ reflects the school's enduring commitment to the pursuit of knowledge and the cultivation of values that will equip students to thrive in the classroom, on the fencing strip, and beyond.
