February NAC 2026 Day 4 Recap: Final Day of Fencing
by Nicole Kirk
Cincinnati, Ohio - The 2026 February North American Cup wrapped up with another seven gold medalists crowned. There were all smiles as the event rounded out, and champions stood at the top of the podium for the final day.
Julie Seal (Valkyrie Fencing Club) reached her fifth gold medal of the weekend in the Veteran Women’s Saber event. Five gold medals in one weekend was accomplished by her daring herself.
“You know what, it was a dare. You know,I thought to myself, ‘I wonder if I can get six out of six?’ I came really close.”
She said in order to get six there were some things she could still work on. “ I think there's still room to make it tighter. I think there's still room to do more with my footwork. I think there's still room in mindset, and I think there's still room in just controlling the frequency of all things in the universe.”
Kai Liu (Shoreline Fencers Club & Medeo Fencing Club) had some tough bouts, “I definitely had a lot of comebacks today, like I had to grind some of these touches, some of these bouts in the top 32 and the top eight and top four. So, it was a long day.”
Despite it being long days of fencing, everyone left with smiles on the final day. Each event’s top eight finishers stood tall on the podium, proud of their accomplishments.
The next national competition is back in Ohio featuring younger age categories, March 6-9, 2026.
