TBILISI, Georgia — Team USA’s men’s foil squad secured a silver medal at the 2025 Senior World Championships, continuing their strong legacy on the world stage.
In a dramatic semifinal against Hungary, Team USA staged an impressive comeback. Alexander Massialas OLY and Gerek Meinhardt OLY delivered dominant runs — 11-5 and 11-4, respectively — to turn the tide and clinch a spot in the gold medal match.
In the final, Team USA faced off against Italy in a tightly contested bout. Despite powerful 10-2 runs from both Massialas and Nick Itkin OLY, the U.S. fell to Italy with a final score of 43-42. The silver marks Bryce Louie’s first senior World Championship medal.
On the women’s side, the epee team delivered a strong showing, finishing fifth overall. Wins over Canada and Estonia highlighted the squad’s talent and ongoing growth, even as they narrowly missed the podium.
In individual events, women’s saber and men’s epee began their competitions. Alexandra Lee went undefeated in pools and advanced to Day 2. She’ll be joined by Maia Chamberlain OLY and Siobhan Sullivan, who also moved forward after their preliminary direct elimination bouts.
In men’s epee, Samuel Imrek and Oleg Knysh will represent Team USA on Day 2. Imrek, ranked in the world’s top 16, will make his debut Sunday in Tbilisi, while Knysh advanced out of pools and DE's to secure his Day 2 spot.
