COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — As Selina Kaing’s time as a Special Board Member (non-voting) comes to a close, USA Fencing offers sincere thanks for her steady leadership and dedication. The good news for our community: Kaing’s impact continues as she remains chair of the U.S. Fencing Foundation Board of Trustees.

During her tenure, Kaing brought thoughtful questions, a collaborative spirit and a solutions-first mindset to key conversations that shape our sport’s future. Her service helped ensure decisions were made with athletes, parents, coaches and clubs in mind — from grassroots growth to excellence on the world stage.

That same community-first perspective continues to guide her work with the U.S. Fencing Foundation, where trustees help champion the critical philanthropy that supports programs nationwide.

“Selina’s steady counsel and passion for our mission have been felt across the organization,” says Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Fencing. “While her Special Board Member role is ending, her leadership carries on through the U.S. Fencing Foundation — and we’re grateful for the continuity of her service.”

As a trustee, Kaing will partner closely with volunteers, donors and staff to connect generosity with impact. That includes supporting initiatives that welcome newcomers, strengthen member experiences and elevate opportunities for athletes at every level.

“Few embody service to the USA Fencing community like Selina,” says Meghan DeFord, USA Fencing’s Director of Development. “As our Foundation chair, she understands how strategic philanthropy fuels growth and excellence. Her leadership helps turn generosity into tangible progress for the sport.”

Kaing’s story is a reminder that leadership takes many forms. As a vet fencer herself, this includes impact on the strip, in the club and in the boardroom. USA Fencing is grateful for her continued commitment and the example it sets for volunteers across the country.
