COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo. — For decades, American and Canadian fencers have crossed borders to compete, coach, and cheer together at events like the USA Fencing North American Cup series or the Canadian Fencing Federation’s Can/Am Veterans Cup.

Today, that shared history takes a formal step forward as USA Fencing and the Canadian Fencing Federation (CFF) announce a Memorandum of Understanding that strengthens collaboration while making it easier than ever for fans to represent the maple leaf and the stars and stripes in the stands.

Under the MOU, the two federations commit to open communication, mutual support, and exploring joint initiatives that promote the sport in both countries. It is a good‑faith framework — designed to foster growth for fencing across North America — and runs through July 31, 2028.

A key feature of the agreement is merchandise. USA Fencing will produce and sell CFF‑branded gear through USA Fencing’s authorized partners. That means fans will be able to purchase CFF merchandise at USA Fencing events and via the USA Fencing merchandise store online, with shipping available to both the USA and Canada.

“This agreement reflects the friendship and respect that already exists between our communities — and it turns that spirit into practical benefits for athletes and fans,” says Phil Andrews, CEO of USA Fencing. “From more opportunities to collaborate to new ways for supporters to show their pride, we’re excited to build something that’s good for fencing on both sides of the border.”

David Howes, Executive Director of the CFF, agrees.

“The CFF is excited to further solidify our relationship with USA Fencing," he says. "This agreement will deliver tangible benefits for our members and their families by providing a new convenient option to purchase CFF-branded clothing.”

Both organizations will share more details as the first CFF items arrive in the USA Fencing merchandise store and at select competitions. In the meantime, the message is simple: collaboration wins.
