2021 Board of Directors Election Candidates

Dear USA Fencing Members,

The USA Fencing Nominating Committee is pleased to announce the names of the parties that it has nominated to run for election to the positions indicated.  

At-Large Director (Two to be Elected)

  • Donald Alperstein (Denver, Colo.)
  • Jeff Kim (Johns Creek, Ga.)
  • Vickie Miller (Durham, N.C.)
  • Ann Marsh-Senic (Royal Oak, Mich.)
  • Scott Webb (Grand Rapids, Mich.)
  • Dawn Wilson (Louisville, Ky.)

NOTE: Other candidates may be nominated for these positions. The Bylaws describe the requirements for nomination by petition.

Congratulations to the nominees, and many thanks to all who submitted applications and participated in the process.

Determinations were based on a number of factors, including, but not limited to, experience in the following areas: education, financial services, marketing, diversity, equity and inclusion, fundraising and innovation. Consideration also was given to candidates’ past and involvement with the FIE or the USOPC as well as candidates with previous experience with financial or budgetary aspects of USA Fencing.

The committee members were Kat Holmes – Chair (athlete representative selected by the Athlete Council), Jimmy Moody (athlete representative selected by the Athlete Council), Al Kidd (USA Fencing independent director), Terrence Lasker (elite coach), Sam Cheris (past president of USA Fencing) and Molly Hill (national tournament official). 

The Nominating Committee will be submitting an official report in the coming weeks to the USA Fencing Board of Directors.  

The process now moves to the Election Committee which will be establishing the timing of the election this spring; the rules for the posting of electioneering materials on the website; and the method of balloting. Details will be communicated via email and posted on http://www.usafencing.org as they become available.
