(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Registration for the June North American Cup will open at noon EDT on May 3 at member.usafencing.org.
The June NAC will be held from June 4-7 in Richmond, Va. and will include Division I, Junior, Cadet and Parafencing events with each individual event holding a maximum of 175 competitors. This will allow event sizes to remain reduced while also allowing each event to have the potential to award points to the top 64 finishers in the field if 160 fencers compete in the event.

Athletes will be selected for the Division I, Junior and Cadet events as follows off the USA Fencing National Point Standings as of the opening day of registration (May 3) from among those who register for the tournament prior to the registration deadline:
In addition, for all Division I, Junior and Cadet events at the June NAC, a maximum of 10 positions will be allocated for the top 10 fencers who earn points at the May NAC that were not on the points list as of the start of opening day of registration for the June NAC. Please Note: Qualification through this method is only applicable to the event in which a fencer earns points.
Athletes not selected via points or in the lottery will be placed on the waitlist for the event. Waitlist order will be determined by the lottery. U.S. citizenship will not be a requirement for participation in the June NAC.
Please Note: Points earned in Division I, Junior and Cadet events at the June NAC will count for rolling points only.
As international competitors were not allowed to participate in the April and May NACs, please note that the rankings of foreign fencers on the National Rolling Point Standings will not be used in the calculations of Strength Factors for the April and May NACs.
Epee, foil and saber events will be held in separate halls which can only be accessed by those credentialed for each event in a hall. After a competitor has been eliminated from competition, all competitors must leave the venue immediately. Coaches and competitors will only be allowed in the dedicated room of the competition for their event. Tournament staff and officials also will be limited to access only the rooms in which they are working.
The June NAC will NOT be open to outside spectators; however, each competing athlete will receive credential access for one additional individual which may be a coach OR another accompanying individual, such as a family member. Athletes can register this person at the time of registration. Each current USA Fencing Member or Affiliate Club also will be granted one coach credential for each event in which the club has athletes competing. This credential is in addition to the plus one allocated to each athlete. These credentialed individuals also are subject to the COVID-19 test restrictions as listed below. In order to enter the venue, any individuals who are not athletes or tournament staff must have be credentialed with an athlete
As announced in October 2020, all participants in USA Fencing events MUST wear a face mask that covers mouth and nose at all times, including competition. This includes athletes, coaches, staff and officials. The Greater Richmond Convention Center also requires all individuals in the facility to wear a face covering. In addition, in the state of Virginia, currently all individuals ages five and older must wear a mask covering both mouth and nose in indoor settings with others. All individuals age five and older must wear a mask covering both mouth and nose when outdoors if they cannot stay at least six feet away from others outside of their household.
All participants in the tournament, including athletes and staff as well as all coaches or other credentialed individuals, must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test result in order to enter the facility. The COVID-19 PCR test must be taken no more than 72 hours prior to the start of travel for all credentialed individuals.
Beginning with the April NAC, USA Fencing has partnered with Inspire Diagnostics and Unisys Corporation to offer all June NAC attendees access to convenient at-home COVID-19 testing with no out-of-pocket cost. NAC participants will receive further details about this testing program following registration for the June NAC.
At this time, fully vaccinated individuals also must provide proof of a negative COVID-19 PCR test.
