PARIS, France — The U.S. Men’s Saber Team finished in seventh place on Wednesday at the Olympic Games Paris 2024, bouncing back from defeats in the first two matches to win against Canada, 45-43, in the battle for seventh.
The Gentlemen of Harvard — named because all four team members graduated from or have committed to attend Harvard — included Colin Heathcock (Beijing, China), Eli Dershwitz (Sherborn, Mass.), Mitchell Saron (Ridgewood, N.J.) and Filip Dolegiewicz (Park Ridge, Ill.).
Team USA lost its quarterfinal match against Iran, 45-44, to drop into the 5-8 half of the bracket. The U.S. then lost its 5-8 classification bout to Italy, 45-40, before beating Canada in the 7-8 classification match.
