Team USA Places Fifth at Gent Saber World Cup

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – The U.S. women finished fifth at the Gent Saber World Cup team competition in Belgium on Sunday.

The team of Mariel Zagunis (Beaverton, Ore.), Ibtihaj Muhammad (Maplewood, N.J.), Dagmara Wozniak (Avenel, N.J.) and Daria Schneider (New York City, N.Y.) had a first round bye and earned a 45-37 win over Germany in the table of 16.

In the quarter-finals, Team USA lost to France by a single touch – 45-44.

The U.S. women came back in the 5th – 8th place table where they defeated Hungary, 45-44, and Poland, 45-40.
