Isabel Ford Places Seventh at Dijon Junior Epee World Cup

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Fencing in just her first Junior World Cup season, 18-year-old Isabel Ford (Salem, Ore.) placed seventh at the Dijon Junior Epee World Cup in France on Sunday.

After a bye into the table of 64, Ford defeated Annik Faivre (SUI), 15-5.

Ford’s next opponent, Tiphaine Pierre (FRA), kept their table of 32 bout close, but Ford pulled out the win, 15-14.

In the table of 16, Ford defeated Lorenza Baroli (ITA), 15-12.

Three of Ford’s teammates also advanced to the table of 16 before being eliminated as Nina Van Loon (Boulder, Colo.), Katharine Holmes (Washington, D.C.) and Jennifer Horowitz (Los Angeles, Calif.) finished ninth, 10th and 11th, respectively.

In the quarter-finals, Ford lost her bout to Nicol Foietta (ITA), 15-13.
