(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce that Grant Jones (Colorado Springs, Colo.) has joined the National Office staff as the sports performance and development manager.

A former elite-level gymnast, Jones comes to USA Fencing from New York City where he was a researcher and network administrator for the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons.

At Columbia, Jones worked within a multi-million-dollar, multi-institutional network where his duties included coordinating travel, logistics, and accommodations for national meetings and working group events.

In his new role with USA Fencing, Jones will work with the sports performance department in a variety of areas, including national team preparation, creating sports development opportunities and helping to grow the pipeline of fencers to our Paralympic teams.

Jones will report to Director of Sports Performance Kate Reisinger (Colorado Springs, Colo.)  who oversees all aspects of USA Fencing’s national teams and athlete development programs.

“I am thrilled to be joining the team at USA Fencing and welcome the opportunity to be an ambassador in promoting awareness, access and interest of fencing. As someone who attributes my character to my experiences in sport, I feel a personal responsibility to preserve those values for future athletes and believe sports performance and development at USA Fencing is an excellent opportunity to do so,” Jones said. “Being part of the Olympic and Paralympic movement is a tremendous honor; I look forward to working with Team USA to help prepare our athletes for success on the world’s stage.”

Jones earned his bachelor’s degree from the University of Oklahoma in 2005, followed by a master’s degree in metabolic and nutritional human biology from Columbia University in 2007. He begins work with USA Fencing this week and can be reached at
