Joshua Cole and Samuel Freiman Earn Top-32 Results at Luxembourg Epee Junior World Cup

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – Two members of the U.S. Men’s Epee Team advanced to the table of 32 at the Luxembourg Junior World Cup on Saturday.

Joshua Cole (Chappaqua, N.Y.), a 2014 Junior and Cadet World Team member, and Samuel Freiman (Woodlands, Texas) placed 17th and 24th, respectively.

The top-ranked fencer after the pool rounds, Cole earned a bye into the table of 128 where he outscored his teammate, 2014 Junior World medalist Justin Yoo (La Verne, Calif.), by a score of 15-14. Cole defeated Marcin Nikiel (POL), 15-12, but lost in the next round to Alexandre Pittet (SUI), 15-11.

After a bye into the table of 128, Freiman defeated Adrian Dabija (ROU), 15-7, and Gautier Hamoline (BEL), 15-8. Freiman lost his next round to Ivan Limarev (RUS), 15-5.
