USA Fencing Hires Mary-Clare Brennan as Director of Marketing and Communications

(Colorado Springs, Colo.) – USA Fencing is pleased to announce that Mary-Clare Brennan (Manitou Springs, Colo.) has been hired as the organization’s director of marketing and communications.

Brennan comes to USA Fencing with more than 20 years of experience in sports marketing and sponsorship sales and service, including over 17 years at the U.S. Olympic Committee where she served as director of business development and was a member of the USOC sponsorship sales team from 2002 to 2013. Brennan helped generate nearly $300 million in revenue for the 2010 and 2012 U.S. Olympic and Paralympic Teams.

Following her tenure at the USOC, Brennan served as chief executive officer of USA Climbing, where she was one of four female National Governing Body CEOs in the nation in 2013.

A graduate of Indiana University with a bachelor’s degree in sports science and the University of Texas with a master’s in sports administration, Brennan began her sports marketing career in college athletics. Brennan worked as the assistant director of athletic marketing and promotions for the University of Wyoming from 1993-1995 and as the assistant director of athletic marketing and development for the United States Air Force Academy in 1995.

Brennan, who began her her new position with USA Fencing on Monday, will be responsible for building the organization’s brand identity and diversifying revenue streams through sponsorship cultivation, license agreements and promotions.

“I am extremely pleased to return to the Olympic Movement in support of USA Fencing and America’s fencing athletes,” said Brennan. “Kris Ekeren and her staff are a great team and I look forward to working with them as we prepare for the 2016 Rio Olympic Games less than two years away.”

Brennan, her husband Jonathan Veteto, and daughter Rowan live in Manitou Springs, Colorado where they enjoy running, hiking, horseback riding and renovating their hundred-year-old mountain cabin.
