Jataya Taylor

Paralympian 2024

Athlete Bio#

A former Marine PFC, Taylor was injured in a pair of training accidents in 2005, first tearing ligaments in her left leg and later severely dislocating her shoulder ... Doctors did not know at the time that Taylor suffers from Ehlers-Danlos syndrome (EDS) which prohibited her leg ligaments from recovering ... In 2017, 12 years after the accident, Taylor had her left leg amputated ... At first hesitant to try fencing, another military veteran encouraged her to go for it and she has not looked back since ... Taylor is now a dedicated fencer who competes in Epee and Foil fencing and will compete for her first time in the Paralympic Games in Paris this summer.
