PARIS, France — 2020 Paralympian Ellen Geddes along with Paralympic debutants in the women’s foil squad, Victoria Isaacson and Jataya Taylor, will take the strip for wheelchair fencing’s individual foil day. Also taking the strip for his debut is Byron Branch joining teammate Garrett Schoonover in the men’s foil individual competition.

The individual foil day gives a look forward to the team day which will feature all five athletes fencing in the individual competition.

Coming into the competition, all five athletes have medaled at the 2024 Wheelchair Fencing Americas Championship. Geddes, and Branch both collected gold medals at the competition which helped solidify their path to the 2024 Paris Paralympic Games.

The tournament format starts with the Round of 32 beginning at 3:00 a.m. ET (9:00 p.m. Paris time). All athletes will start at 9:00 a.m. and then from there the tournament will break into Category A and Category B competing at different times.

As the tournament progresses, competition continues uninterrupted through the quarterfinals. Then there’s a two-hour break so the morning/afternoon session ticket holders can leave and make way for the evening session attendees.

The evening session begins at 8:30 a.m. ET (2:30 p.m. Paris) with the semifinals, bronze medal bouts and gold medal bouts, followed immediately by the victory ceremonies for each category.

Select bouts are streamed live on Peacock and NBCOlympics.com (streaming schedule).

At the 2024 Paralympic Games, Wheelchair Fencing will be using repechage.

Repechage means that fencers who make it to the Round of 16 or further will continue to fence in repechage rounds until a second loss.
