International Selection Criteria
Our international selection criteria documents outline how USA Fencing determines which athletes will represent Team USA at international competitions. This page includes the latest updates to international selection criteria for each weapon and gender.
September 9, 2024: CWF Points Updated #
Please note the CWF Rolling points posted here have been updated to reflect the new 24/25 CWF Selection Criteria, linked above. You may have noticed that 5 Group I results and 2 Group II results will count for team selection this season. Therefore, the points have been updated to be in alignment with the selection criteria.
March 7, 2024: 24/25 International Selection Criteria Notice #
Full selection criteria for the 2024-25 international season will be released in the coming weeks. In the meantime, please be advised of the following urgent notes concerning team selection for 2024-25:
2025 Senior World and Zonal Championships #
The following 23/24 Designated Senior events will count for selection to the 2025 World and Zonal Teams:
- ME – Cali, St. Maur
- MF – Hong Kong, Shanghai
- MS – Seoul, Madrid
- WE – n/a (2024 Cali & Abu Dhabi will count for rolling points only)
- WF – n/a (2024 Hong Kong & Shanghai will count for rolling points only)
- WS – Seoul, Plovdiv
See table below for 2024 Olympic Games results that will count for 2025 Teams.
- For all senior weapons, the Division I events at the 2024 Summer Nationals/July Challenge will count for rolling points only.
- For Men's & Women's Epee only: all 24/25 Designated Senior, Junior & Cadet international events will be selected on ROLLING points.
- The 2025 Cadet, Junior & Senior World and Zonal Championships will be selected on TEAM points.
2025 Cadet & Junior World Championships #
See table below for 2024 World Championships & Olympic Games results that will count for 2025 Teams.
- The Cadet events at the March 2024 NAC will count for rolling points only.
- The Division I and Junior events at the April 2024 National Championships and NAC will count for rolling points only for all junior and cadet weapons.
- The Division I, Junior and Cadet events at the 2024 Summer Nationals/July Challenge will count for rolling and team points for all junior and cadet weapons.
- For Men's & Women's Saber only, the final two Designated Senior events of the 23/24 season (Seoul & Madrid/Plovdiv) will count for selection to the 2025 Cadet & Junior Men's & Women's Saber World Championship Team.
- For Men's & Women's Epee only: all 24/25 Designated Senior, Junior & Cadet international events will be selected on ROLLING points.
- The 2025 Cadet, Junior & Senior World and Zonal Championships will be selected on TEAM points.
